Here at Johanna Elizabeth, I’m passionate about helping women like you to feel empowered and self-assured.
I call myself a ‘self-love promoter’ and wish for all women to feel happy and healthy both in mind and body.
In that spirit, here are some tips on how to make time for yourself and how to boost your confidence so that you feel amazing this summer and beyond!
Boost your confidence and mindset with these tips
Do these five things to boost your confidence and mindset this summer:
-
Do less and take it slow
It can be tempting to make your summer schedule action-packed, but a slower pace of life may be better for your health and mindset.
Remember, rest and relaxation are extremely important. So, if you feel like saying ‘no thanks’ to the occasional invite, then do! Listen to your gut.
Realise that you are not obliged to accept every invitation you receive and that by doing less, you will free up time in your summer schedule for other things such as investing in yourself and your well-being (see tip number 2).
Your time and energy are precious, so stay true to yourself and only commit to things you really want to do. Life in the slow lane may be just what you need this summer!
2. Practice self-care
Self-care can take many forms and needn’t necessarily mean a trip to a luxury spa hotel or an expensive shopping trip or meal out somewhere (although those things can be nice, of course).
You can practice self-care by taking the time to enjoy life’s simple pleasures. For example, by spending time outdoors.
You may enjoy a garden of your own or visiting a favourite spot in local woodlands. Or perhaps you love escaping to the coast and getting your dose of ‘vitamin sea’?
Reading that new book you bought, listening to the latest episodes of your favourite podcast or watching that new series on Netflix – these can be acts of self-care too! There are endless ways to look after your mind and body this summer.
Whatever self-care means to you, do ensure that you make it happen. When you’re feeling relaxed and revitalised afterwards (and you will), you’ll be so glad you did.

3. Do something for the first time
Doing something for the first time can be liberating, so this summer why not also schedule in some new experiences?
If you’ve always fancied a go on a stand-up paddleboard, for example, or want to go sea swimming or learn to sail, then the summer can be a particularly good time to have a go! Or, how about going horse riding, getting creative with photography or watercolours, or trying out that delicious recipe you spotted in a magazine?
You’ll get a confidence boost from trying out new things and realising that you CAN do more than you think. What would be on your wish list if you could do something new this summer?

Practice gratitude to boost your confidence and mindset
Being positive and practising gratitude regularly is another way to boost your mood and sense of well-being. Sure, not everything goes to plan in life, but chances are that you have much to be grateful for than you think.
If you don’t already journal, why not try it out? Every day, take some time to consider what things went well for you and write these down.
Just the act of reminding yourself of all the good things that happened during your day – however insignificant they may seem – could help to make you feel happier and more fulfilled.

Realise that, yes, you ARE summer ready!
Finally, if the onset of summer makes you feel nervous because you’re not sure if you’re ‘bikini’ or ‘beach-ready’, then let me reassure you that you ARE!
You are perfect as you are now, and you don’t need to feel insecure or ashamed of your body. Wear whatever you want this summer and be confident doing so. Being yourself and recognising that beauty is in all of us, whatever shape and size we happen to be, is the most important thing of all.
So, ignore those ancient stereotypes and bigoted expectations of what it means to be summer-ready, and boldly go about your life with confidence!
