With age, we mature and grow into wonderful women, but even though we are older, wiser and more empowered than ever, it can still be easy to forget our true value.
When life takes a difficult turn, our confidence can be knocked, and our sense of self-worth may take a nosedive.
This is why I recently asked some of my wonderful clients to think about what they would say to their 18-year-old selves, to boost their confidence, if they had the chance.
The new ‘Note to Self’ Series
I’ve collated these words of wisdom into a ‘Note to Self’ e-book and, in this new blog series, I’ll be sharing the stories in the hope that they inspire you.
Since their teens, these women have lived, loved and learnt so much. I felt that we could all benefit from their experiences and advice.
In this edition, you’ll meet Carmella.
Carmella’s ‘Note to Self’…
Hey you,
Firstly let me say to you stop it! Stop beating yourself up and being so tough on yourself.
I know that you don’t feel like you belong or that you don’t fit in anyway, but I want you to know that’s ok.
You’re not supposed to, you are different, you look different to the other girls and that’s a good thing it makes you unique. (And trust me is good to be different -you’ll see).
Secondly, stop putting yourself last and throwing away your dreams because of what the others said. You have so much to give and so much to share with the world, please, I know it hurts and it’s hard, but don’t be afraid to be you – you are wonderful and I love you just the way you are.
The last thing I have to tell you is that I’m sorry for how hard you are on yourself the way you strive for perfection while not knowing that you are already the most perfect version of you.
And I know what you’re thinking but believe me it will get easier – so relax and enjoy who you are because time really is precious and you don’t need to waste it on other people’s negative words about you.
(You can’t change people’s views so stop changing yourself to please them, they aren’t worth it.)
So please take care of yourself and treat yourself properly no one deserves to be treated the way you treat yourself now.
Ready to pursue her dreams
You need to believe me when I say you are a beautiful person inside and out (look at this picture if you don’t believe me) (yes.. that is you) that dream you have of being one of those glamorous beautiful women, well – you have her right there inside of you now – you don’t have to wait for one day – you’re already her!
And one day you will meet some absolutely wonderful women who will show you just how special you are and it will be a strange moment of purity where you will finally see yourself how the world actually sees you, beautiful, powerful and unique.
But till then try and see it in yourself.
Remember you are the only one living your life so be strong, be free, and live and love your life for you.
Love always
from me xx
