2021 hasn’t started how I would have liked (far from it!). The photography studio is closed until the current lockdown in the U.K. eases, but I’m keeping busy with DIY and sorting out some stunning new wall art which I can’t wait to show you!

Perhaps like you, I’m trying to stay positive and find the silver linings in everything right now, and one positive thing that has happened this week is that I was interviewed on the Talking Shot podcast!

The Talking Shot Photography podcast

The Talking Shot podcast is hosted by my industry colleagues in the photography industry, Matt Jacobs and Ross Grieve. It’s a show for photographers, and it takes a relaxed look at the world of photography and filmmaking.

It was lovely to be asked to be involved in the very first episode of 2021.

Reflections on 2020 and looking ahead

The episode reflected on the past year, and I was one of three professional photographers interviewed. (Portrait photographer James Musselwhite and wedding photographer Scott Johnson also took part).

Together we chatted about the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and how it had affected our individual photography businesses. We discussed how we each dealt with the first U.K. lockdown, in the spring of 2020, and the second lockdown in November 2020.

Being forced to temporarily close was a huge challenge for all of us and we shared how we approached it.

Because we work in different niches of photography, it certainly made for an interesting chat.

Finding the positives in a difficult year

Without a doubt, 2020 was a difficult year for all three of us. It was for most independent photographers and small business owners across the country.

Ironically though, in some ways, 2020 was a brilliant year for me.

When I was able to open, I was making great strides as a business. I was helping more women than ever to rediscover their self-confidence and purpose through boudoir photography.

As I said during the interview, I’m hopeful of a more positive 2021 and I’m itching to get back into the studio to help all you lovely women who have shoots booked in.

Listen to the Talking Shot Photography podcast

This was the second time I’ve been featured on the show, after having been previously interviewed on the Talking Shot Photography podcast in the summer of 2020.

If you’d like to have a listen to this latest episode, you can find the podcast episode here.
