With age, we mature and grow into wonderful women, but even though we are older, wiser and more empowered than ever, it can still be easy to forget our true value.
When life takes a difficult turn, our confidence can be knocked and our sense of self-worth may take a nosedive.
This is why we recently asked some of our wonderful clients to think about what they would say to their 18-year-old selves, to boost their confidence, if they had the chance.
Introducing the new ‘Note to Self’ Series
We’ve collated these words of wisdom into a ‘Note to Self’ e-book and, in this new blog series, we’ll be sharing the stories in the hope that they inspire you.
Since their teens, these ladies have lived, loved and learnt so much. We felt that we could all benefit from their experiences and advice.
First up is the fabulous Andrea.
Andrea’s ‘Note to Self’…
“To my darling 18-year-old me,
So here it is. I am 40 and fabulous! I remember when I was you, fashionable before our time wearing pretty dresses and skirts with DM boots. A girl that many loved, who always strived to do well in everything that she did.
Now listen to me. You will bear that burden for the rest of your life. And that is absolutely fine, but remember not to lose yourself. Love yourself always.
You are beautiful and at 39kg you are definitely NOT fat! And you definitely don’t need to be loved by everyone by moulding into who you think you should be to please them and earn their love.
YOU ARE ENOUGH!

Your future will be filled with adventures and happiness and love. It will also bring you challenges and hurt. YOU WILL BE OK!!
Try not to let your insecurities about your self-worth get in the way. You are strong – a warrior goddess!
I am currently sat at my dining room table during a global pandemic, thinking about how life has changed and wondering how my life’s chapters will continue to write themselves.
I am separated, have two wonderful children (who drive me nuts), trying to do a thankless job that I am amazing at.
There are low days, like today, when you will just feel MEH. Tomorrow is a new day, and I will go to sleep knowing that I am being true to myself.
Remember all those around you that love you. They will be there during the hard times to lift you. Ask for help.
I realise writing this to you, that at 40, some of the feelings and emotions that I have now, I had then as you. Perhaps now I know how to deal with them better, or in fact, I am not afraid to show them.
At 40, you will still be Ange Dechu. You will strive to project to the world a strong, amazing woman who loves very deeply including yourself.
Don’t be afraid to be who you are.”
Thank you, Andrea!
We’re so grateful that you’ve shared this with us!
We know that ladies reading this will find great comfort from reading these inspiring words.
