Here’s another instalment in my new Boudoir Series, focusing on some of the INCREDIBLE journeys my clients have faced and are facing.
I aim to share, inspire and celebrate their strength and touch on how their boudoir photoshoot with me has had a positive impact on their journey.
So, here’s Kelly and her journey. Kelly, you’re inspirational!
Kelly’s Story…
“I’m not going to lie, the last few years were difficult. I was never overconfident but all of a sudden in 2017, I had terrible anxiety, depression and gained two stone. I was off work for six months and just felt detached from everyone. Slowly though, I started to get better and I came off the antidepressants, weight improved, I felt happier and I thought it was over.
At the end of 2018, I separated from my husband, my best friend and the man I fell in love with the minute I saw him across the bar. My world was turned upside down and I felt like nothing could make me happy.
I bought things I didn’t need, went out more and threw myself into work. Everyone commented on how well I was doing, how good I looked. But it was all for show and I was so alone and sad. At my lowest point, I took an overdose and ended up in hospital followed by being put under the crisis team.
A fresh start
It was my husband who looked after me and we got back together and both vowed to fix our marriage.
Shortly after that, the day of my shoot arrived. I was very nervous and almost cancelled numerous times. I didn’t feel up to it. Didn’t feel good enough and certainly not attractive enough.
I didn’t cancel though. I arrived and immediately felt welcomed by Jo. I was so happy with my makeup and when Jo started shooting, her lovely nature came out. She made me laugh, got me in all sorts of poses and I felt relaxed.
The reveal of my amazing portraits
My reveal was a week later and I couldn’t believe it was me! I didn’t look sad, lonely or depressed. And for the first time, I didn’t zoom in on the bits of the body I don’t like. I was amazed this was me.
My confidence has grown
Since my shoot, my body confidence has grown and on days when it’s low, I have a little look through my pictures and remind myself that I am enough. I have Jo and her team to thank for that.
I also have the lovely ladies in her Facebook group. We lift each other up, have fun and give support. It’s perfect and for the first time in a long time, I feel like I belong.”
Congratulations Kelly
Thank you Kelly for sharing such a personal story, I’m honoured to have played a part in your journey!
Kelly has also joined me for an Eternal Angel shoot since her first time with us – look at this too….
