If you’ve been part of our community for a while you may already know that I’m a proud member of the British Institute of Professional Photography.

Well, today I have some exciting news to share. I’ve been voted to join their Board of Directors!

My journey with the British Institute of Professional Photography (BIPP)

During lockdown 1.0, I achieved my Licentiate certification with the BIPP and, for that, I submitted a panel of boudoir portraits which were reviewed by their esteemed panel of photography judges.

Yes, some of you lovely ladies were featured in the panel!

Achieving the Licentiate in September 2020 was my first experience of the BIPP and an incredibly proud moment! I’ve written previously about my road to qualification – you can read that here.

The BIPP is an internationally recognised photography association with over 125 years of experience in supporting professional photographers.

I was very impressed with how it was run, and very quickly became drawn to the idea of playing a larger role in the team.

Certainly, as a member, I have really appreciated their support and guidance during the past 18 months, particularly when applying for the Licentiate certification.

Since then, I have also enjoyed being increasingly involved with the BIPP and have helped out at industry events.

At The Photography Show and The Video Show, in September 2021, I spent a few fun-filled days on the BIPP stand.

I met with fellow members and shared my experience of the organisation with fellow photographers who were interested in joining. We signed up so many new members. It was fantastic!

This week was my first British Institute of Professional Photography Board meeting.

It was an introduction to the board and the AGM.

It was a day of talks and the ‘Xmas Bash’ was held at West Midlands Safari Park.

It was a wonderful event and was so nice to see so many beloved industry friends and make new ones too.

An exciting new challenge for 2022!

What I love about the BIPP team is that the organisation is a forward-thinking institute.

Also, it’s led by a fabulous bunch of professional photographers and industry experts. They all care a great deal about their members and their professional development, and have created a truly supportive community under the leadership of the C.E.O., Martin Baynes.

Joining the British Institute of Professional Photography Board of Directors is an honour and privilege!

I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to get involved more deeply in the BIPP going forward and to support photographers in this incredible industry.

To now be given the opportunity to help steer its future direction is an exciting prospect!  Watch this space for more updates!
