With age, we mature and grow into wonderful women, but even though we are older, wiser and more empowered than ever, it can still be easy to forget our true value.

When life takes a difficult turn, our confidence can be knocked, and our sense of self-worth may take a nosedive.

This is why I recently asked some of my wonderful clients to think about what they would say to their 18-year-old selves, to boost their confidence, if they had the chance.

The new ‘Note to Self’ Series

I’ve collated these words of wisdom into a ‘Note to Self’ e-book and, in this new blog series, I’ll be sharing the stories in the hope that they inspire you.

Since their teens, these women have lived, loved and learnt so much. I felt that we could all benefit from their experiences and advice.

In this edition, you’ll meet Deborah.

Deborah’s ‘Note to Self’…

“To my 18-year-old self,

It’s hard being an adult. You have to learn to know yourself, how the world works and where you fit in.

You might think you know it all already, but you don’t. Please allow me to share some advice…

Find out what makes you tick – don’t conform to expectations

It’s OK not to like beer and ale

Get that motorbike license – it will set you free!

Let’s face it; you are a short arse. Forget the high heels – Invest in New Rock Boots for height and comfort (especially at gigs)

Invest in your family – always keep in touch with your parents and sister – they may not always understand what you are saying or doing – they just want to see you and know you are safe

Invest in your friends – you will know who your true friends are -they will be the ones that are there in the good times and are there for the bad times

Deborah Note to Self Series

Learn to love your freckles and squeezy cheeks and stay out of the sun – you will be grateful for your youthful looks in 30 years’ time!

Follow your instinct – take note of those alarm bells – especially when it comes to men…that feeling will protect you from pain.

Always be respectful and kind; even when some idiots may not be to you

Smile and the world with smile with you
